Muslim Dad supporting his Lesbian Daughter- Youth Current Event BLOG!

This week on the current event, I am going to be talking about the article entitled “Muslim Dad speaks out in support of his Lesbian Daughter.” If you would like to, you can find this on: www.gaystarnews.com/article/watch-muslim-dad-speaks-out-support-his-lesbian-daughter271114.

With this event that has happened I am very happy that someone stands up for her. I am really happy that her father who is Muslim stands up for her. Even though in the Muslim culture may sometimes frown upon it, this father does not care. He cares more about his daughter and how much he loves her.

Sabrina Jalees been hiding a secret for a very long time, and she tried to keep on the low but she is tired of hiding in the shadow, in so she decide to make a video that shows her coming out to her family. When she did that heartwarming video, there were people against her, but her dad showed his support by letting people know that he does not reject her- instead he still loves her.

It’s really amazing to see a Muslim dad not shaming his daughter just because she likes the same sex. The time moves on to were Sabrina finds love with Shauna. Two wonderful strong women move on to get married in the summer. Then at the wedding, the father of Sabrina was proud to give a wonderful speech to the lovely couple.

Since the couple got married, Sabrina is now in a career as a comedian and also actor in New York, Then Sabrina felt that she should also tell her extended family that she is married and that she is a lesbian, even though the family was Pakistani aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In the end it was sad because when she did tell her family it was over email, but the reaction was the sad part because when most of the extend family found out they went on Facebook and block her, also said really bad things about her. What I love a lot is that the father said in response to the problem is that it’s “Pathetic.”
