It was another hilarious night here at the Youth group in Fort Lauderdale. My close friend Allison started us off by reading the group rules. After they were read, we did our introductions and the question of the week. This weeks question was, “What did you do for the fourth of July?” We said our name, age, PGP (preferred gender pronoun-optional), and our reply. I was in Miami at Florida Supercon, the second largest anime convention in the sunshine state. It was a blast and I wish it never had to end. After the intros, we went straight into our topic of the week. The topic question was split into two and they were,” What does independence mean to you?” and “What is the first word that comes to your mind when you hear the word independence?” There were many answers shared and a lot to which some could relate. I did not answer out loud but my answers were “Liberty” and “Our Flag.”
Now there was a twist in how we normally did things. Instead of doing our icebreaker at the beginning, we left it for last. We played a different version of the game telephone, called broken telephone. The rules are completely different for this game, but it’s easy to catch up once you get it down. Basically how it’s played, the person who starts off as a word into the ear of the person sitting on either side of them. That person then says the word that first popped into their head based off the first word that they heard. See, completely different from the basic game. The line continues until it reaches the last person and that person shares what they thought out loud. then we go around the room hearing what everybody else had said. It was a fun twist to end our night.
However, the fun did not end there. After our icebreaker, we randomly started sharing fun facts. Like, did you know that the space from your wrist to your elbow is actually your shoe size?! It’s true- I tried it and it lined up. It’s amazing things you learn when you’re just having fun.
